The first leg of the journey is from Guwahati to Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. It is approximately 350 kilometres and takes around 8-9 hours by road. You can take the National Highway 2 (NH2) and follow the route via Dimapur. It is advisable to start early in the morning to avoid traffic and ensure daylight hours for the drive. From Kohima, you need to reach Viswema Village.Once you reach Viswema Village, you need to park your rental car in a safe spot and start the trek to Dzukou Valley. The trekking trail is well-marked, and it takes around 3-4 hours to reach the valley.
As Dzukou Valley is located at a high altitude, the temperatures can be chilly, especially during the night. Carry warm clothing, including jackets, sweaters, and thermal wear, to stay comfortable.Since you'll be trekking to Dzukou Valley, it's essential to have appropriate trekking gear. This includes comfortable trekking shoes, a backpack, rain gear, a water bottle, a first aid kit, and a flashlight.
Dzukou Valley is primarily a camping destination, and there are no formal accommodations available within the valley. Most visitors set up tents and camp overnight. It's advisable to bring your camping equipment or rent them from Kohima before starting the trek.
